Federal COVID Relief Funding Received by the State to Date
Since COVID-19 was first detected in the United States, the Government of West Virginia has tracked available financial support to mitigate the challenges caused by the coronavirus and protect West Virginians across the state.
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) - Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund
The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund was established to provide state and local governments funding to aid in response and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency. The State of West Virginia was allocated $1,355,489,988.00 in Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds from the U.S. Department of Treasury as a result of the passage of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Local governments are also direct recipients of the U.S. Department of Treasury's Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. Overviews on these funding amounts are provided below.

Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)
In 2021, Congress passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act with the goal of improving critical infrastructure in the United States including roads, bridges, transportation and water systems and broadband access. The State of West Virginia continues to await federal guidance and currently, no funding for programs funded under this federal law have been received as of January 2022.
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act - Coronavirus Relief Fund
In 2020 the State of West Virginia received $1,250,000,000 allocation from the U.S. Department of Treasury from the Coronavirus Relief Fund which was created by the passage of the CARES Act in March of that year.
