Infrastructure program -Eligible activities include the acquisition, construction, reconstruction, or installation (including design features and improvements with respect to such construction, reconstruction or installation that promote energy efficiency) of public works, facilities (except for buildings for the general conduct of government), dry floodproofing, wet floodproofing, anchoring roof-mounted heating, shelters, ventilation and air-conditioning units, update or replace existing power sources (such as stationary generators or resiliency systems), and retrofitting building exteriors with hazard-resistant materials in accordance with national safety standards, and site or other improvements. Maximum amount of award is $10,000,000.
Planning dollars will allow local and regional units of government to address gaps in existing community plans and explore solutions to hazard mitigation needs. Applicants should be prepared to document how their proposed projects will meet or exceed hazard reduction needs of their most vulnerable citizens and identify which critical lifelines are protected by each proposed project. Examples of projects include, but are not limited to planning to reduce flood insurance premiums through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)'s Voluntary Community Rating System Incentives Program; Code and zoning evaluation and updates; and education and outreach designed to support local and regional mitigation efforts. Maximum grant award is $250,000.
Guidelines
CDBG-MIT funds are limited to the following counties:
Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Roane, Summers, and Webster.
How to Apply
Applicants apply to the WV Community Advancement and Development Division.
Applications rounds will be held at least once a year until all funding is awarded. Round 2 is underway with a deadline of June 30, 2022.
